48 hours in Biarritz

The day JB left to go back to work in the office, Molly came in.  We were calling it the changing of the guards (:  Last time we were here, Molly had broken her foot a couple days before coming to visit.  She ended up going home after a night here with her husband, since the apartment I had wasn’t really accessible for her.  So this trip we are making up for it!  My in laws arrived a couple days after we got in from London.  They were super sweet to keep the boys while we went to Biarritz.  It’s about a 45 minute drive from San Sebastián.  You can take the bus, or hire a car.  We checked into Hotel De Silhouette, which is a design treat.  We loved the service, the cutest French lady that checked us in and promptly made dinner reservations for us, and the general aesthetic.  I would stay there again in a heartbeat.  We walked all over town, from the aquarium to Hotel Du Palais Biarritz.  Had an aperol Spritz on the patio there.  The grounds are definitely worth visiting!  We went to dinner at Carlos on the surfer beach side.  The view is gorgeous!

The next morning we had breakfast in the Garden of the hotel, then went shopping at the market.  We meandered all over town shopping.  Stopping for lunch at Manatee.  My mother in law was super sweet and said we could stay another night.  Our hotel was booked, so we headed over to Hotel Le Garage Biarritz.  Totally different in aesthetics, but we loved their funky take.  We loved their pool area.  When we checked in they recommended dinner at Marloe. Definitely one of my favorite meals!  The food, service, everything – it was *chefs kiss*.  We had the tasting menu and loved the experience.  I’m still dreaming of their lobster!

The next morning we grabbed the bus back to San Sebastián, and before we knew it we were back grocery shopping and picking up the boys from school!

We visited here in 2019 – but with my in laws and the boys.  I do think it’s great for any kind of trip!  Romantic getaway, family vaycay, sister-cation… it’s a great spot.  If you find yourself in Basque Country, it’s a must visit.
