Saint Augustine – what we did and where we ate – with kids

Ten or so days ago we had JB’s cousins wedding in St. Augustine.  It was so beautiful!  It was also JB’s first time being in St. Augustine!  I went to Flagler College there, and have been back a couple times … once when Tuck modeled for Bella Bliss and the other time on our way to my brothers wedding in Spartanburg.  JB asked what we were going to do during our downtime, and I mentioned all of the places we were going to eat.  He was like – yes, but what are we going to do in between eating, Sarah?!  (:  I have so many favorite places to eat there, and every time I’m there I am amazed at how it’s grown.  The town really has a unique heart beat … a little organic/crunchy, southern, hippie little heart beat.  Filled with beautiful buildings, lots of history, and really good food in my opinion.

Places we ate:

The Blue Hen – this was really close to our airbnb and so many people recommended it to me!  To my surprise an old friend of my sisters owns the restaurant!  It was really one of my favorite meals we had while there.  Sweet potato home fries and peach butter on fresh biscuits – do I need to say anymore?

Prohibition Kitchen – There’s great live music here and the boys loved dancing to it.  especially wesley.  We went here for dinner one night, and grabbed a drink here the next night with everyone in town for the wedding.  The food was delicious and especially southern.  Kid friendly because it’s already pretty loud in there (:

Manatee Cafe – this little health food joint was my favorite in college.  I’ve even tried to recreate my favorite breakfast there.  Click here for the recipe.

The Ice Plant – It used to be an old Ice plant, and now it’s restored and absolutely gorgeous.  We had dinner one night here and everything (even the ketchup) is made in house.

Crave – Will never go to St. Augustine without at least one visit to Crave.  The wraps are THE BEST.

What we did:

Of course, the beautiful wedding!!

Other than that – We walked around a lot!  Went to the fort.  Went to the Pirate Museum (which was honestly a miss with the boys).  Went to the Fountain of Youth – so fun for the boys.  They loved the canons going off, running around, walking up to the top of the lookout tower, sifting for treasures, the peacocks roaming … lots for them to do there! We also went to Rype & Readi and fed the horses and donkeys.

Until next time, pretty St. Augustine (:
