Margaux Shoes Review: The Ultimate Test of Comfort and Style

One of my favorite things to do in this space is to address some of the most frequently asked questions I receive from Instagram. These topics have included everything from the best hair mask and our kitchen renovations to my favorite Tuckernuck dresses and comfortable airport outfits. One fashion question that I often get is whether or not Margaux shoes are worth the hype. With sandal season right around the corner, I thought today would be a great time to chat about this question.

If you’re looking for a quick answer to whether Margaux styles are worth it, my experience says it’s a resounding yes! Why? Keep reading to find out!

About Margaux Shoes

Before sharing my thoughts on these shoes, I wanted to chat a bit about the story behind this brand. Founded in 2015 by friends Alexa Buckley and Sarah Pierson, Margaux is a women’s shoe company that specializes in silhouettes that are just as comfortable as they are beautiful. They stand by the statement that their shoes are “made for everywhere life takes you”, and from my personal experience, this is 100% true!

Beyond their wonderful designs, there are so many other special things that I love about this brand. Each pair of shoes is handmade by a family-owned factory in Spain. The designers work closely with this factory to ensure every detail is well thought out. Additionally, the founders of Margaux are dedicated to finding ways to lessen their impact on the environment. Overall, I love everything this brand stands for!

Margaux MX Sandals

After years of hearing friends rave about Margaux sandals, I finally bought my first pair in 2024 — the MX style. Since it’s now my go-to sandal, I’ll start this review with my thoughts on it.

When I purchased the MX sandals, I was on the hunt for a shoe that could last me all spring and summer (including a few months spent in Europe) without falling apart by the end of the season. I also wanted a sandal that would look good with dresses, shorts, jeans…basically everything!

It was a tall order, and I’ve had some failed attempts along the way. But in the end, the MX sandal has proven to be the ticket. Here are some reasons why these Margaux shoes stood out above the rest.

Margaux Shoes Vs. Other Brands

After a few summers of having shoes fall apart by September, I was ready to prioritize quality over quantity. To compare Margaux with other brands, here’s a deep dive into a few sandals I’ve taken to Europe over the years.

French Sole Sandals

In the summer of 2022, I bought these cute French Sole sandals for $150. I wore them a lot that summer throughout Portugal, London, Spain, and France. But somewhere along the way, one of the soles ripped off, and the material started to peel. I ended up leaving them by the dumpster one day, and they were quickly scooped up. I hope whoever grabbed them was able to have them repaired and wear them longer!

Zara Sandals

After this, I quickly needed a new pair to make it through our European summer. So, I ran into Zara, and bought these. I currently still own this pair, and I do think they’re great! But, they don’t have as much support as the French Sole or the Margaux styles, so they’re not ideal for walking long distances.

Ancient Greek Sandals

Then, in the spring of 2023, I bought the Eleftheria Ancient Greek Sandals. I loved the simple design and I had heard that they were comfortable. My hope was that the higher price point meant I’d be able to get a longer wear out of them. Throughout the spring and the start of summer, they were great. But unfortunately, by the end of summer I could barely wear them, as they had stretched out so much. I honestly loved the style and feel of these Ancient Greek sandals so much that I’d consider buying them again. However, I wouldn’t wear them for our long summers in Europe, if I did.

Margaux Sandals

By this time, I was wondering if I’d ever find a shoe that would hold up, feel comfortable, and not disintegrate by the end of summer. After hearing so many friends rave about Margaux shoes, I decided their sandals were the ones I needed to try.

I packed the MX sandals for our trips to Ireland, Spain, France, and NYC last summer, and I wore them A LOT. Not only did I throw them on for daily walks, but also for days spent at the beach. Through it all, they held up incredibly well! I’m officially a believer, and this pair will likely be coming with me to Europe again this year.

Additionally, these Margaux shoes are the first pair of sandals that I reach for on a daily basis. I love how they look with jeans, shorts, and dresses, and the croc material instantly elevates the any outfit!

More Reasons Why I Love Margaux Shoes

Beyond the unbeatable comfort and classic style of Margaux shoes, there are a few other reasons why I love this brand.

  1. Custom Sizing: I have a narrow foot, and Margaux lets you customize the fit to either narrow, wide, or medium. I think this is part of what helps make them so comfortable! They also offer inclusive sizing (from EU 33 to 45), a fit concierge, and a wonderful customer service program to help you select just the right fit for your foot.
  2. High-Quality: When you see Margaux shoes in person, it is quickly evident that they’re made from high-quality materials. And once you wear them, you’ll also discover that the craftsmanship is top-notch. I am walking proof of this!
  3. Cost-Per-Wear: Even after owning the MX sandals for less than a year, the cost per wear is already just pennies—perhaps even a fraction of a penny! So if you are looking to buy quality over quantity in 2025, this is the sandal you need.

Other Styles of Margaux Shoes

While the MX sandals are my most-worn pair of Margaux shoes, the heels in the image above are actually the style I’ve had the longest. I believe I got them back in 2019, and I still wear them today! However, they no longer make this exact style.

For an upcoming spring trip to London, I wanted a close-toe shoe that would be great for dinners out. So I recently ordered the Ada low-heeled ballet pump to try. I plan to wear these as much as possible, prior to our trip, in order to break them in. I’m hopeful that they’ll be as wonderful as the MX sandal!
