We inherited a beautiful old flag when we purchased our house a few years ago. I remember loving it when we toured the house! They also left us a flagpole that can be extended to reach the height of our house. Our house has a TON of quirks, and at any given moment I can tell you the millions of things that need work. It doesn’t really bother me like it probably should, but I figure this is a good thing. Especially as I am staring at a crayon drawing of captain America on the wall to the right of my desk. ha. Old houses, or really any houses, particularly with kids inhabiting it, need care. This 1924 colonial is NO exception. But I love driving home to our house, and I always love seeing the American Flag we have flying high. Cheesy but true, it feels like our very own American dream come true. Since moving in though, the flag we inherited has taken a beating. Especially after Irma. I have to say driving home after Irma, to a home we didn’t know we’d come back to, and having the American flag still flying high was one of my most grateful moments in my life. We were overdue for a new one, but I was picky because I didn’t want one all shiny and bright but like the beautiful worn one we had. Then I found the perfect one from Wayfair (c/o) – The American Heritage Edition Traditional Flag. We took the old one down, and will properly retire it this Independence Day. I love the look of this one! Â
After we put up our new American flag, we walked out for a sunset on the dock. When Tuck asked if he could jump in, we thought why not? It was the best kind of summer nights. And a memory I will always treasure.
