Biarritz France with Kids

The other weekend we went to Biarritz France.  We took the ALSA bus there from San Sebastian, and it took around 1 hour.  It’s a beautiful coastal french basque town, with great food, shopping, and views.

WHERE WE STAYED:

We stayed at a cute airbnb (though you are right by lots of restaurants and bars, so it can get loud at night/early morning).  You’re also perfectly situated to explore the amazing market, lots of shops, and about a ten minute walk to the beach.

WHAT WE DID:

Biarritz is a stunner!  But coming from kid friendly San Sebastian, Biarritz wasn’t near as warm toward kids.  I never saw one playground – in San Sebastian you can’t walk five minutes without running into one.  We had a wonderful time still, but I think it may be better suited for a girls getaway or a weekend away with your spouse.

The market had everything from food to flowers to home accessories to sunglasses.  I found a pair I loved from a little vendor called La Mouette.

It’s definitely worth a visit – or five.  We went there all three days whether it was to pick up lunch, or grab some cheese.

THE BEACH

The boys had the time of their life catching crabs here!

We walked the Rocher de la Vierge which has incredible views and the rock formations are stunning.

we popped by the gorgeous Notre Dame du Rocher.

WHERE WE ATE:

When in Biarritz I was told you have to stop by Miremount for a chocolate eclair.  And that’s just what we did.  It was so charming!

We ate at a few spots, but had the best hamburger (maybe of my life!) at Brasserie Garderes – maybe it was the sheeps cheese, but it was so so good!

Thanks for being drop dead gorgeous Biarritz!
