“Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.” – Emily Buchwald.
I thought I’d share some of my favorite books to read with my boys here. These aren’t Christmas books – you can find my favorites right here if you’re looking for that. But any of these books would make great Christmas presents. The best books to read to my boys are the ones that teach them about Gods love for them, teach them empathy, spark meaningful questions, and/or show what kindness looks like in action. I can just see their little wheels turning while we turn the pages every night, and I love that.
- When God Made You
- Loved-Another Sally Lloyd Jones book that teaches kids just how lavishly loved they are
- Dear Girl– my go to gift for girls birthday parties. such a great book!
- The Jesus Storybook Bible– Sally Lloyd Jones is definitely top five kids authors. She also writes Thoughts that make your heart sing, which is so so good.
- Love Does for Kids– My boys are captivated by his stories, and I am too! I don’t think I’ve made it through a single story without a tear from me.
- The Friend that Forgives– adore this book and how it teaches forgiveness and its meaning.
- Be Kind– Such a precious book about what it really means to be kind.
- I Walk with Vanessa– this doesn’t have words but I love to ask my boys questions about what is going on in it. Great book about including and showing what empathy means.
- Be Kind Be Sweet Be Nice to Everyone You Meet-One of my all time favorite books. The absolute sweetest!
- Indescribable -This is great for I’d say 4-10. Shows science with devotions from the Bible. Quick nightly read.
- God’s Very Good Idea– little hint – it’s you!
- This is THE Day! a sweet book about starting your day right!
- God Made the World -precious board book on creation
- All Are Welcome – what a special book about inclusion.
Love these special books to give for Birthdays and Christmas time. And to read my boys!
