Recently I discovered Facebook Marketplace (not sponsored!) while on my phone. I love it! It’s like craigslist, but I find it easier to search, easier to upload a listing, and you can limit the radius you’re willing to go to pick something up. I spotted this dresser – a drexel, that had been painted using chalk paint. Have you done that before? I am tempted to try it! Anyway, we went to take a look. They had done such a great job restoring it – the drawers all work perfectly. It was $260 – which is so much cheaper than anything I was looking at online. Funny enough the couple that restores the furniture lived in a house that we had looked at when we were house hunting. It was way too much work for us, but they have restored it into a total knock out. We ended up getting an armoire to make into a wine cabinet/storage that we spotted – I’ll be sure to share that soon! JB is so relieved we finally have a proper dresser in our room. When we first moved in we made a list of all the things we needed to purchase, and all the things that needed TLC in the house. A new dresser for our room was first on the list. Two and a half years later, it is finally getting crossed off The List.
Other things I’m hoping to do to our room:
get a new fan – ours is so so old. and unfortunate looking!
raise the curtain rods- I always think it’s amazing what this does to a room.
replace the wooden blinds with a bamboo shade/roman shade – do you have some you love??
Add in some art work
Will keep you posted on the progress! And if you’re looking for furniture, FB marketplace may be a good spot to check (:
ps: if you ever need to laugh – this story and this girl cracks me up about her craigslist finds. I feel like we could be related.
