I love talking classic paint colors! And it’s one of the most asked questions. Below is what we currently have. This is an old post of what we used when we first moved in, back in 2014. Some have stayed, and some I’ve itched for a change. Now they make it easier to test paints with smaller paint kits. Back in 2014 they’d make us buy a quart, and I had a hard time paying that when I just needed a teensy bit.
We will start with the exterior of our house. My dad and JB painted it in 2016 together in Simply White by Benjamin Moore and the shutters are Onyx by Benjamin Moore. Before that it was almost a very pale pink color. Simply White is a perfect white for a colonial home. I thought about doing blue shutters, but the black just felt so traditional and in keeping with history.
One that has stood the test of time, or 7 years anyway – is Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams. We have it in Johns room, in the foyer, and all the way up the stairs. It is a beautiful coastal color.
White dove by Benjamin Moore is a classic paint color that we have in our playroom, dining room, and guest room. It’s such a crisp white. I love it! I plan on painting what we have left in Revere Pewter either white dove or Chantilly lace. In the playroom I painted the French door (appropriately) French Toile by Benjamin Moore.
We have had a difficult time finding a painter, and while we could totally do it ourselves… JB would rather not! He used to paint in the off season of baseball, and I think he’s 1000% burned out. What do we want to paint over? Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter. We have it in the living room, kitchen and our bedroom. I feel like the gray has become a little depressing. Need something lighter and brighter.
I used the regal select matte finish at Benjamin Moore and Emerald Flat Sherwin Williams. Both have low VOC.
What is your go to paint color? I have to say if we were moving in today, I’d probably do all white dove or Chantilly lace, and wallpaper all of the bathrooms before we moved in.
