Last weekend my sister, Tuck and I were feeling pretty crazy adventurous and we decided on a whim to head down to Disney while JB was out of town.
I booked our hotel and tickets at 10pm with a disney representative and we left around 9am the next morning. It was our second time at the Magic Kingdom. I’m by no means an expert, I’m like the least disney knowledgable person there is. And I’m actually scared for myself, because I’m totally becoming a “disney person”. ha.
Anyway here are a few tips I have for Disney with an 18 month old! Some I learned after the fact.1. Definitely try to stay at a disney hotel; they have one for every price point. I really wanted a hotel we could just hop on a boat to head into Disney – so we stayed at Wilderness Lodge which is modeled after Old Faithful in yellowstone. It was nice to go back and rest during the afternoon and then head back no problem. Tuck loved the boat rides. One other reason to stay at a Disney hotel is that even though I booked the night before, our magic bands we’re ready. Basically little bands we all wore (including Tuck) that was our room key, our charge card, our fast passes, our dining reservations.
2. We brought a sippy cup for water, hand sanitizing spray and rub in sunscreen from honest, and some squeeze pouches for quick snacks. I also packed his swimsuit and his towel poncho in case we did the splash park.
3. Since we didn’t have a full day there our schedule was:
we had lunch at Be Our Guest (so cute), used our fast pass for Mickey’s Philharmagic (tuck belly laughed), met goofy and donald duck, used another fast pass at Dumbo, rode the tea cups, got snacks, took the boat back to the hotel, rested, went back and used our fast pass for Mickey, rode the new Ariel ride, picked up dinner in Liberty Square, got a silhouette made of Tuck, and then all three of us passed out. The next morning we went to the grand floridian for a character breakfast and swam in their pool ( we are rebels).
4. download the disney app! You can see everything there – reservations, schedules for fast passes, etc. plus all of the photos they took of your party.
5. I loved our souvenirs – a silhouette hand made by an artist on the spot that literally takes under ten minutes ($8) and a Mickey hat – because that’s just a classic ($18 with name on it).
6. 1 year olds probably shouldn’t do character breakfasts/dinner. We’ve done three between the two different trips, and you’d think I’d learn my lesson by now. But waiting an hour to see a character and having patience when you see one to make their way to you, really isn’t Tucks forte.

If you find yourself at Disney with a one a half year old, I hope this helps a little!
