At the end of this week, we’re heading to the Dominican Republic for a quick trip with our friends and our kids. The last time we were there, we were honeymooning, so this getaway will feel quite different!
Of course, packing is currently on my mind. We plan to fish, sail, and explore the area, so I’m planning my looks around these activities. I know many of you might be heading on a tropical getaway this spring or summer, so I thought it would be helpful to share some of the outfits I’m planning to bring!
You also might want to check out my other packing lists, which cover everything from outfit inspiration to carry-on essentials.

Travel Day Outfit
First up is my travel-day look. When I’m headed somewhere tropical, I like to stick to lightweight pieces—and, for whatever reason, I also love a comfy pair of pants. These linen trousers are a new favorite: I love the elastic waist and classic cut. I plan to wear them with a simple white tee and comfortable sandals.

Beach & Pool Days
During this trip, I’ll be in a swimsuit every day—so I’m planning to pack a few options. Minnow continues to make my favorite swimsuits; I absolutely love how they fit! This blue floral one-piece and this yellow swimsuit are both coming with me.
When we’re on the boat, I’ll need something with more coverage and sun protection. For those days, I’ll be packing this long-sleeve swimsuit and this chic black one. And, of course, I’ll be bringing my favorite tinted sunscreen, my new sunnies, and a packable sun hat for extra protection!
When it comes to cover-ups, I like pieces that are cute enough to go straight from the pool to a casual lunch. I’m especially excited about this adorable bow-front blouse and matching shorts—these can easily be dressed up for a day of exploring, too!
I’ll also be bringing a linen shorts set: this white linen tank and the coordinating shorts. This set is great because the white linen lets you mix and match them with other pieces, making them super versatile.
Lastly, I always pack a cute sarong to throw on over my swimsuit. This eyelet one is coming along for the trip!

Daily Active Look
I always like to pack one or two active looks when I travel—something I can throw on for walks, planning tennis, a morning yoga session, etc. For the DR trip, I’m bringing this classic white tennis dress, which I love! It’s so versatile and perfect for a tropical climate. I’ll pair it with these neutral sneakers (my current go-to) and, of course, some Teleties to pull my hair up in the heat and humidity.

Outfits for Dinners Out
Packing pretty dinner outfits is one of my favorite parts of vacation—it’s so fun to get dressed up and enjoy a nice meal after a long day in the sun!
For this trip I’m bringing a colorful linen dress, a pretty green midi, and a block-printed pareo with its matching shirt. I plan to mix and match them with accessories and shoes: a conch clutch, drop earrings and stud statement earrings, my favorite wrap sandals, comfy wedges, and a pop-of-color lip gloss!
