Four Seasons Costa Rica

Today I wanted to share about our trip to Four Seasons Costa Rica, with our elementary age kids.  The time we went last our kids were just 4 and 6.  We went back in August for a work trip with FS Costa Rica.  Similarly like what we did with Four Seasons Orlando – we shot some content with their photographer on some days, and the rest of the time we were free to enjoy CR Peninsula Papagayo!

Where we stayed:  Four Seasons Peninsula Papagayo.  From the moment you arrive, they greet you with fresh coconuts to start hydrating.  Then we took a golf cart to our room.  We had a view of the ocean, and plenty of monkeys from the screened in porch.  We stayed in a king room with a pull out couch.  Perfect for our family of four.  My mom stayed next door in a bedroom with a king.

There are also treehouse suites, which offer a bit more privacy!

If you need more room, we shot at the new Casa Las Olas – which is an incredible 6 bedroom home, with sweeping views, and everything you could imagine!

Where we ate:  Like all four seasons properties, they are well equipped for kids.  So even their nice restaurants, the staff won’t bat an eye lash if you bring your kids.  We loved dinners and breakfasts at Bahia, had a wonderful Italian meal at Pesce, But our favorite was Nemare.  JB and I went while the boys and Nina stayed back with room service.  We loved the ambiance, and the food was incredible.  It’s still considered their property, but you will need a 10 minute shuttle. which can be arranged at the front desk.  There are cooking demonstrations/classes, and rum tastings – but we didn’t get to it that time.

What we did:   We did a lot in our quick trip!

  • Our favorite thing was chartering El Jefe out for whale watching, fishing, a beach lunch, and paddle boarding.  The weather was not great that day and it ended up raining on us – but we swam in the rain, and none of us were phased.  It was such a fun memory!
  • We also went zip lining at Palmeres which the boys loved.
  • The spa is excellent, and my mom and I enjoyed spending time after a treatment.
  • SURFX – we were fresh off our summer in San Sebastián, and the boys had been learning to surf there.  So it was incredible to watch them surf again – just on the other side of the world.
  • Kids Club – the boys just went to the kids club for about two hours, but enjoyed it when they did!
  • Hike – they have a great hike right on the resort.  perfect to do before lunch.

Where we flew in and out of:

We flew out of Orlando through Frontier.  It was my first time ever flying Frontier, but everything went well and there was hardly anyone on the plane.

We flew into the Liberia Airport in Costa Rica.

They had transportation ready to pick us up and take us back.  That was about a 45 minute drive each time.

What to wear:  I think easy breezy dresses are the way to go.  I brought a couple nicer ones for dinners, but still dressed it down with sandals.

for the boys:
