Earlier in September JB and I drove up to Highlands, NC for a little getaway. Last time we were there was in July of 2020 with the kids at Old Edwards Inn. Both times were so so lovely! The weather was a delightful change, and Half Mile Farm was the dreamiest spot. It’s an adults only resort a mile from Old Edwards Inn. It is owned by Old Edwards Inn, and has that same unique charm. But different extras! For one, they have lots of fun programming. While we were there, Gary Crunkleton joined us for social hour. Sharing his bourbon and his fantastic sense of humor. Similar to a bed and breakfast but a bit more spread out, you have breakfast provided for you in the morning. It’s not just any breakfast, but truly gourmet. My favorite was the eggs and wagyu hash. It was so delicious!
The location is incredibly romantic. You can enjoy the serene lake by just sitting and staring, or do some fly fishing or just canoe around. They also have stand up paddle boards available. There’s a nightly fire pit overlooking the lake. It is so beautiful!
The rooms are elegantly appointed, complete with heated flooring, a tub with a view, a shower with 6 heads, a fireplace, and a balcony with views of the forest. They are beautiful, and so cozy.

-depending on when you book, you’ll have a special social hour by an artist, chef, bartender. Delicious drinks and hors d’oeuvres included!

-close to many excellent hikes. We did Whiteside Mountain, and it was a fantastic hike!
If you are looking for a romantic getaway in the south, Half Mile Farm is it!
