I’ve already shared some (of my favorite ever!) family photos of our stay on Marco Island. But I also wanted to share all about JW Marriott Marco Island … in 2020! We were there in 2019 to kick off our Thanksgiving break, which was a whole different time right?! So I was excited to get back to see what it would be like traveling in 2020 down to this beautiful island. We tried out their latest “Discover” package. Which combines virtual learning with a vacation down in paradise. Kids get to do their virtual learning in a sanitized board room. A great spot with zero distractions to focus on learning. We aren’t virtual learning, but we did go there on a weekend, so we brought our homework with us and it truly was a great spot to do homework and some extra reading. You can also book the tiki tribe for kids, which we did last time. Participating children will experience a low counselor-to-student ratio of just one to four, and enjoy activities such as sandcastle engineering, seashell walks guided by a naturalist, and arts and crafts. You can also book a private discover counselor. Which would be something we’d for sure look into if we were traveling together with cousins or another family.
This time my parents came along, and we stayed in a two bedroom lanai suite. Which was a perfect set up for the six of us. It also had a pool table which got plenty of use!! You’re steps away from the white sandy beach, and a nice patio where we enjoyed our morning coffee together. It was extra nice to have a lanai suite in 2020 because you can access your room via the outside door.
One morning we went on a shelling and dolphin excursion, and it was SO much fun. You can access your excursions right off the beach at the resort. Which had us feeling like we were down in the Caribbean! We so enjoyed watching dolphins swim next to us, seeing the famed domed houses, and going on a shell adventure. I honestly couldn’t get over the kinds of shells we found! Soooo many. It was something I’d 10000% recommend doing. We were all smiling from ear to ear. And it was educational too – the guides were so knowledgable about the wildlife and shells.
One thing I’ve expressed on our last trip, but the JW Marriott Marco Island is HUGE! and I don’t mean that in a bad way at all. There’s just something for everyone, and there’s no reason to leave the resort. Lots of different restaurants, and many have increased their outdoor seating. Three different pools – a spa pool for adults, one with a slide and waterfall, and one big one for everyone. The beach area is enormous, with super soft powder white sand. And great beach side service!
It was such a great spot for a multi generational trip, and memories were made for a lifetime!
