One thing that’s always in my “go bag” especially as a mom, is a first aid kit.  I’ve spoken about the importance of a travel first aid kid a time or two.  While some trips to the foreign doctor or Emergency room are unavoidable, I do like to be prepared for when an OTC medicine will work.  We’ve had to visit the ER in Turks and Caicos, and also in San Sebastián.  Both times for upper respiratory issues with the boys back in 2014 and 2019.  Even stateside something has popped up, but after hours when we really didn’t want to run out to the pharmacy.  Since 2019 though I make sure to keep medicine, bug spray, cortisone – those sort of items at the ready.  Medicine is different all over the world, and we have found that out the hard way!
{we used a TRVL cosmetic bag turned first aid kit}
What’s inside our travel first aid kit:
- a few bandages. Â Now we could definitely get these easily at our location, but I like to have it on hand. Â As well as some neosporin. Â I like the welly brand, some even come with it all in one. Â Like their quick fix all in one kit. Â I carry one of these around in my day to day totes as well.
- I use this vitamin (it’s so small, more suited for meds) container to put in all of the OTC meds. Â The pink is labeled for kids, and the white is labeled for adults. Â I just used a sharpie. Â on one side I put the dosage, on the other I label the medicine.
- My kids are elementary age so I have some children chewables. Â Tylenol, Claritin, pepto, genexa cold crush, melatonin, ibprofen. Â I really love the Genexa brand for my kids.
- for JB, myself, or any adult – I have the same sort of OTC medicine.
- Bug spray and bug patches.
- Sunscreen – We all love unseen sunscreen. Â I prefer to pack a small amount of this, and buy more once we’ve arrived in Spain.
- tweezers
- Travel Nebulizer. Â While we don’t always need this, our doctor has encouraged us to keep this with us for trips along with some albuterol and saline. Â We’ve tried this particular model, and it works great.
- Antiseptic wipes – always in any bag of mine, but especially while traveling.
Hope this gives you a good first aid packing list to build on. Â Every family is different, so your needs may differ as well. Â Happy, safe, healthy travels to all this summer!
