Nantucket Packing List: Classic Summer Outfits for Every Occasion

Next week, my sister Molly and I are heading to Nantucket with our good friend (and talented photographer!) Alisia Thompson. I’ve never been, and I’m so excited to explore! Naturally, I’ve been thinking a lot about what to pack. I know many of you have upcoming travel plans too—or maybe you’re just on the hunt for some fresh summer looks—so I thought I’d share my Nantucket packing list and outfit ideas.

What to Wear for a Summer Trip to Nantucket

I’ve shared a lot about comfortable airport outfits, packing tips, and travel essentials in past posts, so I won’t go too deep into these today. That said, two things I always consider when making a packing list are the destination’s weather and the activities we have planned.

Since we’re visiting Nantucket during the first week of June, the weather will still be pretty mild—and possibly even a bit chilly at times. It looks like temperatures will range from the 50s at night to the 60s and 70s during the day, so I’ll definitely be packing some layers.

As for our itinerary, we have a rough idea of what we’d like to do, but nothing is set in stone. If you’ve been to the island, I’d love to hear any and all of your recommendations!

Nantucket Outfit Ideas

With that in mind, let’s dive into some of the outfits I’m planning to pack for our trip! As with all of my travel capsule wardrobes, I’ve stuck to a fairly consistent color scheme so pieces can be easily mixed, matched, and reworn for different days and activities. Naturally, the Nantucket palette leans toward classic blues and whites, with a few fun pops of color mixed in!

Nantucket Farmer’s Market

Gingham feels like a must for Nantucket, so these blue gingham pants are definitely coming with me. I’ve owned a few different versions over the years, and I absolutely love them. I’m planning to pair them with this classic oversized button-down shirt and drape this mint green sequin cardigan over my shoulders—perfect for an extra layer if it gets chilly. I’ll also be bringing this Amazon basket bag to collect all my farmers market finds!

Brant Point Lighthouse

Of course, we’ll be visiting the historic Brant Point Lighthouse! I’m expecting a fair amount of walking to get there, and it may be windy and chilly by the water, so my goal with this look is to stay comfortable—but still cute.

I’m planning to wear these relaxed linen pants and this boyfriend-style polo. I love the pop of yellow this top adds—after all, yellow is the “it” color this summer! I’ll pair it with these chic woven flats, pearl stud earrings, and once again, my favorite affordable straw tote.

A Stroll Around Town

One of the things I’m most looking forward to is simply strolling around Nantucket—grabbing breakfast at Lemon Press and popping into all the adorable shops. I mean, is there any better way to spend a day with two of your closest girlfriends!?

For this day, I’m planning to wear a timeless eyelet dress. Unfortunately, the exact style I have is currently sold out, but this classic eyelet midi dress is absolutely stunning, and this eyelet mini is another great option! I’d pair either one with my favorite wrap sandals (so comfy!), these earrings, chic sunnies, and this adorable wicker crossbody bag (use code SARAH20 for a discount!). I’ll also bring along this cashmere scarf to wrap around my shoulders if it gets chilly.

A Day at the Beach

We’re hoping it’s warm enough to spend a day lounging at the beach. While we’re lucky to be surrounded by Florida beaches, I have a feeling Nantucket’s shores will feel different in a really special way.

I snagged this blue bikini, and I’m truly obsessed—the vintage vibe really speaks to me. I plan to throw on this oversized button-down as a cover-up and my go-to slide sandals. Inside my beach tote, you’ll find my favorite tinted sunscreen, sunglasses, and a new pretty lip balm with SPF that I’m really excited about!

Dinner at TOPPER’S

We have dinner reservations at TOPPER’S, and I’m so excited I can hardly take it! I’m a seafood girlie, and I’ve heard wonderful things about this spot.

I might be just as excited to wear this gorgeous taffeta maxi skirt as I am for the dinner. The turquoise is such a pretty shade, and it’s currently on sale! I plan to pair it with this chic boatneck tank and these minimal gold sandals for a streamlined look. And how perfect is this statement necklace?! The final touch to complete the outfit!
