The paper products that help organize my weeks
I’ve always been a person that writes everything down. When I’m at my most productive, is when I’m extra diligent about penning all my to do’s and brainstorming on paper. If I ever feel overwhelmed on a project, you’ll hear me say “let’s write this down”…. it may end up looking like a bunch of scribbles, but I know it is getting me somewhere. Writing it down helps my anxiety, helps me remember, and seems to have a calming effect. I will be the first to say, that my writing items are a bit extensive – but it’s the only way I know!!
- I often take a look at digital calendars, like the skylight, that the whole family can work on. But I have not purchased one yet. Maybe when the kids are in high school and can help input their own activities. For now, I use a wall calendar, that I store in our junk drawer. And refer to every day. This is where both JB and I put in our schedules, but at the ages of our kids, it’s mostly all about their schedules right now!
- Sunday is typically when I meal plan. I go through my cookbooks, any online recipes that looked good (I save those with bookmarks throughout the week) and write it down on a weekly notepad along with page number or if it’s online. I have been using this one. I order most of my groceries online, and I go to costco in person. I will do a more detailed meal planning post if that’s of interest!
- My tote is on the bigger side for every day, because I stash a lot of stuff in there. The essentials, but also my planner, and two notebooks. One notebook is for a running to do list which encompasses both work and life to do’s, and one is for ideas I have for posts, etc. Right now I’m oscillating between this one and this one.
- I know it seems like overkill, but I also write on a weekly notepad – this gives me more room to write out what’s going on. Who has practice where, their game times, Violin pick up, Play practice, play dates… you get it. The Tuckers are overscheduled. We need all of the help we can get keeping it straight. For me, that’s writing it down.
- My Aunt taught me to always write things down before bed. It really is a sleep aid! There’s not much you can do once it’s bed time, so one of the better things you can do is right down your to do’s, or anything, flesh it out, and go to bed. I keep this notepad by my bed.
