Bedroom update: first things first, paint.
Whenever we go out of town in July to Spain, we always line up our painters for some projects. There’s always something to be repainted in an old home. Whether it’s the original, 99-year-old windows, or the beat-up baseboards. While we always get low VOC paint, I like to be out of their hair and out of the house when they’re painting.
This year I wanted to repaint stairs, and also our bedroom. It was previously French Moire from Sherwin Williams. After living with it for a few years, I just never truly loved it. So this summer we had the walls painted White Dove by Benjamin Moore, and trim painted Blue Heather by Benjamin Moore. We have the bedrooms walls painted with matte, and then a semi gloss for all trim. All of our bedrooms walls are White Dove, with different painted trims. I feel like it ties all of the bedrooms together to have the same wall color. But keeps it fun with painted trim. I know colored trim is not for everyone, but it feels perfect for this old colonial home. You can see the boys bedrooms here.
Since we have painting done while we’re out of town, I always love coming home to see just how I like it! I was thrilled with this color combo. It feels serene, which is what I’m going for in our bedroom.
NEW BED
Some things stayed the same
Of course plenty of things stayed the same!
Our rug is an Annie Selke one we have loved. I love an all cotton for under foot in the bedroom. This has held up so nicely over the years!
I have said it before and I’ll say it again but the best duvets are the Pippen House duvet system! I paired this bedding with Cariloha sheets, Garnet Hill dream quilt, and Pepper Home pillows.
The nightstand is the porter side table from Coley Home in rattan.
Our curtains are Pepper Home in Flour with green velvet trim.
I’m still on the hunt for some art to put above the bed. This is what it looked like before the update!
