I couldn’t imagine a better way to start the Holiday season than a trip to The Ritz Carlton Lake Oconee. Â JB and I had stopped there on our way to Highlands in the fall. Â We both knew the boys would love it when we briefly visited, and totally got the hype right away. Â We knew it was a fantastic spot, but we didn’t know just how magical it would be during the holidays. Â From the moment you arrive, you feel like you are in a little (southern) winter wonderland. Â With decorations everywhere, an incredible real gingerbread house, letters to the North Pole (that get answered!), a fun ice skating rink with the best Christmas tunes, Nightly S’Mores, and fireplaces around every turn. Â It’s a Holiday mood for sure! Â It is a wonderful time to go, but I also think this property would be wonderful all year round. Â
One of my favorite things about the property is all of the open spaces. Â It has swings and hammocks around every turn, fields for football, soccer, or wife ball, creeks to explore, and of course the pools!
There are three pools. Â One that’s more geared toward family, an infinity pool, and an indoor spa pool. Â The family one has a splash pad, zero entry, and is in close proximity to Ritz Kids. Â Then there’s also an indoor pool near the spa and fitness center. Â There is family hours every day. Â It was so fun on a chilly day, to hot tub and swim indoors!
The boys did one day at Ritz Kids while  JB and I went to Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds.  They enjoyed their time so much.  They went fishing, ice skating, went on the little train, and played non stop.  They loved their time with their counselor.  If you are thinking of utilizing Ritz Kids, make sure you reserve right away.  Space is limited.  My boys would highly recommend this!
The area near the Ritz Kids is a kids paradise. Â With Basketball courts, a play ground, putt putt greens, and even a video game room!
I had never shot sporting clays before! Â I was thankful we had a really knowledgeable guide the entire time. Â Sandy Creek Sporting grounds is beautiful, and filled with lots of adventure. Â We went off roading, which was a blast. Â JB drove, and I couldn’t believe all the Jeep could do. Â We had a guide for this as well – thank goodness!
One afternoon we rented a pontoon to cruise around Lake Oconee. Â There were still some leaves peeping! Â It was just so beautiful, and peaceful. Â We all loved the ride. Â You can rent boats right on property of the Ritz. Â We booked ours through the concierge, but there’s attendants down there as well who can help you out.
The property has SUP boards, kayaks, and canoes; so you can explore the lake at your leisure. Â One morning we paddle boarded across the lake!
Another reason why we love Ritz Lake Oconee is the food! Â It was all so good. Â We tried every restaurant on property, and loved them all. Â I can’t recommend the Tuna Poke bowl enough at Gaby’s by the Lake. Â We got that twice while we were there. Â We ate at Georgia’s every night, which has indoor and outdoor seating. Â It’s a cozy southern vibe. Â Our last night we ate at Linger Longer Steakhouse, and it was so fantastic. Â Definitely special occasion worthy! Â Every single item was delicious. Â We absolutely loved our whole dining experience. Â My kids especially loved the off menu item – Cotton Candy!
Thank you Ritz Carlton Lake Oconee for such a special weekend. Â It kick started our December Holiday fun!
