SOCCER MOM ESSENTIALS
I love being a soccer mom, and I love it even more when I have all of my soccer mom essentials with me! To be honest, soccer been the sport I never wanted to watch growing up. But that motherhood magic has turned me into a completely different person who loves to watch soccer these days. I even took the boys to their first professional soccer game in Switzerland, when JB was back stateside. As a side note, if you’re in Europe, and you have soccer players, make time to go to a game! It was the craziest and most fun energy! My boys LOVED it. We’ve since gone to an Inter-Miami soccer game – which was a blast too. But all of fall and winter is dedicated to soccer around here for us, and then we turn to Baseball in the spring. After many years of spending my Saturday mornings at the soccer field, here’s what I like to keep in my car or with me for soccer games, and soccer tournaments.
SOCCER MOM GAME DAY ESSENTIALS
- The first thing you’ll need is a good chair. The one I use no longer ships to the US, but this one looks nearly identical. If you prefer a rocker, I see these a lot on the field. I also also have some cheaper ones I keep with me for when friends or family come to the games.
- A good blanket. It’s hard to think about this since it’s currently blazing hot, but a good blanket when it cools down is a must. I love my chappy wrap since they are so cozy, and I can just toss them in the wash when I get home.
- A handy umbrella for shade. This one will attach to any chair. If you want to go all out, these coolcabana’s have been recommended to me so many times! I also make sure to keep just a regular umbrella in my car in case it rains.
- Sunscreen! We always have the big bottle of Supergoop PLAY sunscreen – whether we’re on the boat, pool or soccer field,
- While not an essential, a collapsible wheelbarrow is a back saver for carrying all of this.
SNACKS AND DRINKS
- You’ll want to pack plenty of snacks and drinks. If it’s just one game, we will load up our Birdie Bag from Stitch Golf. Usually this is lots of sparkling waters, cashews, dried mangos, siete chips and rx bars.
- If it’s a tournament, we bring a rolling cooler. We have a Yeti that I bought for Father’s Day a few years ago, but I think this igloo one is great and a good price!
- Water bottles. For me, I always have something like this, and the boys have their gallon water jugs.
SOCCER MOM TECH
- A portable fan. I use this when I’m traveling but I also use this on the soccer/baseball field.
- When it’s freezing, I use these rechargeable warmers for my hands. I also use these when I’m skiing. They work really well!
- a portable charger for your phone!
HEALTH/SAFETY
- A first aid kit. I keep one in my car organizer always, and a few essentials on hand too.
- Hand Sanitizer. Sometimes the bathroom facilities are not great or they aren’t stocked! It’s a good idea to always have hand sanitizer, especially on soccer days.
SIDELINE STYLE / SOCCER MOM STYLE
It depends on my mood and the weather. but sometimes I am super comfy in athletic gear, and sometimes I’m a bit more preppy and polished. Or a mix of both! Here are a few ideas. Just click on the image to shop the look!
