The next morning after breakfast we went to Gellert thermal spa. We chose this one because the Széchenyi baths we were told, are very crowded. The concierge also suggested Rudus baths. But I was lured in by the gorgeous art deco style of the Gellert spas. We were the only english speakers in the bath area, and it was a really quiet morning. Was an absolute dream! Those colors!! I love the hungarian spa culture. One of our guides said they have the most thermal springs of any country! I know what I’m doing in my 70’s … going to spas in hungary (: Afterwards we went back and got ready for the day. Thankfully we were given a late check out, so we kept our bags there and went out to lunch. I really wanted to try Borkonyha both were unable to get reservations and they are closed on Sundays … So we had lunch on the rooftop of the Aria hotel. The views of the city are really gorgeous from there!
That afternoon we loaded everything on the boat, then walked to the castle district for a drink and appetizer. You can use the cable cars up to the Castle District but the wait was really long so we walked up. It’s not a bad little hike! The hungarian savory pancakes were THE BEST. I got them every time I saw them on a menu. They are a thicker consistency than the pancakes I make at home, with sour creme, and savory fixings. So delicious! Our time in Budapest was short but wonderful! I love the entire vibe of the city. If you want to read my Budapest in 48 hours Part one – here it is!
