Tuck has been due for a big boy room update since we moved into our house. I love that it feels a little like a grown up version of his nursery. The first thing I worked on was the headboard with Gray Whale Home( c/o). She sent me several options to choose from when I said I was looking for a french ticking stripe. I loved the wide stripes this one had. She can make it ALL custom for you down to the exact dimensions you need. Just like she did for Wesley’s room with his gingham headboard.
We also were in desperate need of a new fan for his room. It’s hard to find decent looking fans but I love the way the hepburn hunter fan looks. We also had this installed in wesleys room. It’s just such a nice clean modern look. I know my style isn’t very modern, but my mom has always told me every room needs at least a touch of modern.
I worked with Carousel Designs to create these beautiful navy ticking curtains (c/0). Also a matching pillow! I love how simple the process is to design your own. I had navy trim added to these.
The art is from Minted and the baseball needlepoint was made by my aunt emily.
The federalist mirror was on clearance at the thrift store and under $10… I painted it with Newburyport blue from Benjamin Moore.

I love a little boys gallery wall. I’m still looking for the perfect pennant to go up there. I loved working with Savannah Jacks and having her create a canvas of a nautical chart of one of our favorite areas – boca grande. She can create so many other items too! The rest of the gallery wall is a photo from Jessica Lorren, a print from Shay, a fish print from Amanda McLenon, and a florida fish print card(this link is to a poster of that card) that I found in boca grande in a target frame.
I have SO much love for his new herringbone rug from Annie Selke Dash and Albert line c/o. I wondered if I had totally lost my mind choosing something light like this, but it’s an indoor outdoor rug, and we’ve had it for a month and so far so good. We also don’t have anything but water upstairs so I don’t have to worry as much about spills like I do downstairs. Shoes also don’t ever make it upstairs so that helps keep it clean. I love how easy indoor/outdoor rugs are to clean though! Rugs do so much to finish a room. This rug is a part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – in lots of other colors too.
the pirates hat was mine as a little girl… worn during family day when my dad was a pittsburgh pirate!
The old dresser and nightstands were brought back from my in-laws from Germany. Fun fact – that’s where they met. She was working for the Red Cross and he was an officer who asked her to breakfast every single morning until she finally said yes.  My mom also always says you need at least one antique in every room, and at one point I wanted to store these, but I really love how they go here and ground the room.
The brass sconces are from Pottery Barn Kids. I love how they look framing the bed. They are also really easy to install. It’s too intimidating for me to think about putting in non plug in sconces (though I SO love the look).
This room was one of my favorite rooms when we were looking at this house. I love the windows, the view of the blooming crape myrtles it has and the built ins. But this many built ins is intense to say the least. Thankfully we hoard books around here, and my mom kept nearly every book we ever read growing up. I love reading the inscriptions from my aunts, uncles, parents, and grandparents from 30 or so years ago. Books are so special, and I always try to include one with gifts. We’ve even been taping a picture of the boys inside along with a little note. I so love Petite Pehr’s pom pom baskets c/o.  A fun way to store their stuffed animals, legos, and playmobil characters.  I try to keep the toys for just the playroom, but toys make it to every room in the house. This is an easy way to clean up, store them, and eventually sort them.
Hands down the coziest spot in our house is tucks bed now. I’m a little jealous (: Annie Selke sent us these linen sheets, chambray duvet and shams. Now it’s really hard to get out of bed after prayers and books at bedtime!!
I found this french poster print framed in brass at goodwill, and it was actually the second thing I bought to change up his room. You can find the poster online at amazon.
Tuck was beside himself when he came home to everything being up in his newish big boy room. He said “mom this is the best! I would pay you 100 dollars if I had it” … This room took a long time to come together, but I love how collected it feels in there. Thank you to Annie Selke, Pehr Designs , Gray Whale Home, and Savannah Jacks for making my boys big boy room dreams come true!
PS:Â The paint color in his room is Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams
