Y’all have given me so many good ideas for gift guides, so that’s one reason it’s been gift guide heavy this week! I thought I’d also tell you how I organize for holiday gift giving. Nothing groundbreaking but … I always create a google spreadsheet that includes each person on our list, I brainstorm ideas, stick to a budget, and then check that person off once it’s purchased. I share the spreadsheet with JB for input too. For teachers we have them fill out something like this – as one of the room moms, I send it out to all of the parents in case they plan on giving a gift. It helps if you are getting something monogrammed, or to get them something geared toward their interests. I hear most teachers say “gift cards!” and we have done that plus a little something personal. And a nice note from us with one I dictate from my son! Here are a few of those ideas:
- When I was in anthropologie a few weeks ago I saw this bag. It also doubles as a little clutch. It would be a great size, I imagine, for a teacher. It comes in a bunch of different colors/patterns.
- This notepad set from Emily McCarthy shoppe is one of my favorites. It’s $45, and comes with a bunch of different sizes.
- These personalized clipboards from C.Jayne Teach – one side is a dry erase board.
- C.Jayne Teach also makes the personalized buffalo check notepad.
- Some cute earrings that are good for day time and simple for night.
- Best Teacher Ever pencils
- A personalized pencil cups – you could wrap it up with the gift card inside.
- personalized notepad.
- A reader told me that one of her most treasured gifts was a book her class made with answers to questions about her from each of her students. That could be a somewhat easy task – if you sent it out email form, and then had everyone send back their responses.
- Most responses from actual teachers were starbucks giftcards!
Are you a teacher? What’s your favorite gift from a student? Or have you given a well received gift by a teacher? I would love to know more!
