{thank you Half Mile Farm for hosting us! Â }
Earlier in September JB and I drove up to Highlands, NC for a little getaway. Â Last time we were there was in July of 2020 with the kids at Old Edwards Inn. Â Both times were so so lovely! Â The weather was a delightful change, and Half Mile Farm was the dreamiest spot. Â It’s an adults only resort a mile from Old Edwards Inn. Â It is owned by Old Edwards Inn, and has that same unique charm. Â But different extras! Â For one, they have lots of fun programming. Â While we were there, Gary Crunkleton joined us for social hour. Â Sharing his bourbon and his fantastic sense of humor. Â Similar to a bed and breakfast but a bit more spread out, you have breakfast provided for you in the morning. Â It’s not just any breakfast, but truly gourmet. Â My favorite was the eggs and wagyu hash. Â It was so delicious!
The location is incredibly romantic. Â You can enjoy the serene lake by just sitting and staring, or do some fly fishing or just canoe around. Â They also have stand up paddle boards available. Â There’s a nightly fire pit overlooking the lake. Â It is so beautiful!
The rooms are elegantly appointed, complete with heated flooring, a tub with a view, a shower with 6 heads, a fireplace, and a balcony with views of the forest. Â They are beautiful, and so cozy.
The property has:
-fresh baked cookies available any time
-a great little bar and restaurant
-depending on when you book, you’ll have a special social hour by an artist, chef, bartender. Delicious drinks and hors d’oeuvres included!
-heated pool + waterfall hot tub
-champagne arrival
-game room and so many spots to just sit, hang and enjoy the beautiful surroundings
-organic garden on site!
-spa treatments available on site at the serenity suite
-nightly shuttles to and from Old Edwards Inn
-close to many excellent hikes. Â We did Whiteside Mountain, and it was a fantastic hike!
If you are looking for a romantic getaway in the south, Half Mile Farm is it!
