Happy Birthday to the man of my dreams!
Do you remember spotting me on the sidelines at my brothers soccer games? I was 6, you were 8.
do you remember the time you went all heart eyes for me? I was 16. You were 18.
do you remember talking on the phone all hours of the night in college? falling asleep to each others sleepy voices. and it would still be a couple years until our first kiss.
do you remember picking me up from the airport with white roses and a build a bear? And I immediately laughed and told you no more roses, and no more weird bears.
I was your friend first.
I could tell you these things. I can always tell you anything.
do you remember walking into the ICU after my heart surgery? after my lung surgery? I can still see your eyes, and I didn’t find disgust from my scars. I found only love and compassion.
do you remember driving 14 hours to Mississippi to tell me you loved me?
do you remember the smiles on our faces the day we got married?
do you remember moving to switzerland and not knowing a soul? But making the best of friends.
Getting lost in paris country side? There is no one I’d rather get lost with.
Do you remember bike rides along lavender fields and eating berries off the side of the road?
Do you remember running as fast as we could to catch the train in Milan to go home? We just made it.
Hiring a dingy in Hvar- wandering aimlessly all over the pakelini islands with sun drenched skin and the prettiest water we’ve ever seen?
do you remember me catching the biggest snook and you being the proudest fishing captain ever?
Jumping in the Rhine and floating down on a hotter than hot july day?
Dancing all night at a former panamanian presidents 100th birthday?
vodka shots with your parents in Russia?
Telling you as I am passenger side to “LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL IT IS!!!” while you are driving next to me in the snowy Alps, with a stick shift, white knuckling it? You literally couldn’t look, or we would both tumble down a cliff.
Do you remember moving home and being the biggest encouragement as I started my dreams?
Do you remember holding me as our hearts broke over our miscarriage? There is no one more comforting. No one else I could bear that with.
Do you remember me squeeeeeling when I found out I was pregnant with Tuck?
Do you remember coaching me through his delivery? I couldn’t believe how proud you were of me.
Do you remember dancing with your two month old with a mariachi band in mexico?
Do you remember snorkeling together under crystal clear waters off dog island?
Do you remember sleepless nights? Are you ready for some more? No one I’d rather be sleepy with.
I hope you always remember you are my favorite, forever.
I am so glad you are forefront in so many of the best memories.
