Nevis Travel Guide
Since our trip to FS Nevis in 2017, I have been recommending it ever since. Â The food, the people, the charm of the architecture, the natural beauty… honestly, could go on and on. Â I was relieved when I still loved it… maybe even more than we did on our 2017 trip. Â Six years later, and my kids have grown leaps and bounds. Â It’s a different trip for sure. Â We didn’t have grandparents come like last time, and the boys are at an easier stage. Â I can still remember last time Wesley being so tired by nap time, that for the first time in his life, he asked for me to take him to nap. Â While we don’t have naps to deal with, we have definitely ended the days pretty early. Â Tucking in around 9, exhausted from a full day of fun. Â I wanted to create a Nevis Travel Guide from our week stay here.
How to get to Nevis
Just like our trip to Harbour Island last year it’s a bit of a planes, taxi, boat situation. Â I remember someone saying that if it’s hard to get to, it’s usually a fantastic place. Â I tend to agree. Â We flew Tampa to Miami, then Miami to St. Kitts. Â From St Kitts you’ll go through customs, hop on a taxi to a marina. Â The taxi takes about 15 minutes. Â Then you’ll load a boat to go to the Four Seasons. Â I am sure all of the hotels on the island can help arrange this transportation. Â Once you are on the boat, you are offered rum punch, Ting, Carib, etc.
Where to Stay on Nevis
Four Seasons Nevis: Â For a family vacation, I really don’t think you can beat it! Â Which I went more into detail on this post. Â They have the hotel, and also residences you can rent.
Montpelier: Â This is where Princess Diana stayed back in the day with her boys. Â It’s so dreamy!
Golden Rock Inn: Â This is such a fantastic spot. Â It’s owned by artists Brice and Helen Marden, Â and the style is so funky and fun. Â
Mount Nevis: Â We didn’t visit this time, but have heard it’s a good one! Â Higher up on the mountain.
Where to Eat on Nevis
I think the food and flavors here are so good! Â With JBs work trip, the dinners on property were included, so we spent our dinners at FS. Â I think it’s great to have a mix though! Â So we went to the others for lunch.
Four Seasons has several options – On the Dune, Kasteway, Esquilina, and Mango. Â Mango is probably my favorite. Â Lots of bars, even one on the pier. Â Highly recommend enjoying a cocktail around sundown out there!
Bananas: Â This spot is delicious, and quite charming too.
Golden Rock Inn: Â Dreamy x10! Â get a sunset reservation.
Montpelier: Â You can even eat inside the old sugar mill for a super special occasion.
Sunshines: Â They are famous for their drink The Killer Bee. Â It packs quite a sting. Â They also have great fresh fish. Â We got to meet Sunshine this trip, and he is lovely.
What to do on Nevis
FS Nevis has a ton to do on property. Â Snorkeling (we saw turtles and tons of fish right off the shore), pickle ball, tennis, 3 pools, a wonderful spa … there is something for everyone.
Horseback riding. Â We didn’t get to do this on this trip, because I didn’t book it in time. Â But the Nevis Equestrian will help you book that.
Deep Sea fishing. Â Sadly this was rained out on us. Â We picked the wrong day to book!
Catamaran tour. Â A must do! Â We loved snorkeling just off St. Kitts!
funky monkey tour. Â We had quite the adventure this time. Â Would recommend getting a driver! Â But fun way to experience the island.
Cab driver tour. Â The cab drivers are so nice, and give you history while driving. Â They are so proud of their island, and it shows. Â We especially loved Clayton. Â If you ask the front desk for him, I bet they will be able to locate him!
Alexander Hamilton’s birthplace. Â There is a museum here as well. Â We love Hamilton, so this was a treat. Â Also great seeing the Museum of Nevis History. Â It won’t take you very long. Â Probably around 30 minutes.
A monkey golf cart tour. Â You can either go with a guide from the hotel, or take a golf cart on your own. Â We did that! Â hole 10 and 15 have a ton of monkeys. Â And it’s a fun ride as you weave in and out of the rainforest.
Scuba diving: Â jb loved going last time!
Is it Safe on Nevis
I personally felt quite safe, and we ventured off property every day. Â JBs work is quite cautious, and we were not given any warnings other than the usual ones.
Who would like Nevis
I think it’s got that “je ne sais quoi” about it. Â There’s just something about this charming island. Â To me, at least!
It’s kind of a wild place – donkeys, lambs, goats roam around all over the island. Â The people are kind and gracious. Â It has 66 churches on this small island, with only 12,000 people. Â It’s also super laidback. Â Obviously, I’m a big fan!
I think families and couples are ideal for this spot. Â Of course a fantastic girls trip or 40th birthday would be wonderful too!
