I’ve had so many questions about these JetKids by Stokke RideBox/BedBox, so I thought I would answer some of your questions about them and show you how they work. To be up front, I was sent these by Stokke, but I wasn’t required to post about it unless I liked it… and spoiler: we loved it.
I wasn’t totally sure how these would go. Would they just be one more thing to carry for us? When we went to Rome when Tuck was almost two, I bought him an adorable little scootcase that looked like a vespa. But it ended up being more of a hassle than helpful. It was part because of his age, and part because the design of it just wasn’t very good.
A few thoughts about the JetKids by Stokke RideBox/ BedBox:
-  They allow kids a way to scoot through the airport. Similar to a balance bike. Which meant I never had to carry the younger one around like I normally do, and it also meant that I didn’t have to carry their JetKids either. Their little legs never got too tired for me to have to carry either one.
- A strap comes with it so you can attach it to the BedBox and pull them through the airport if their legs do get tired.
- It’s entertainment for them. I would put them in an area where no one was, and let them scoot around to get their energy out.
- Makes a coach seat more comfy for them, and better for naps or overnight trips as it turns the space in front of their feet into a layflat area.
- It’s a perfect little seat for them … they used that a lot for sitting while waiting in line – and there are lots of lines at the airports!
- It fits under a coach seat (or it did on JetBlue flights)
- They are much sturdier than the other scootcase I had. So easier for them to balance and safer for them too. It also has a strap for them to hold onto while they scoot.
- There’s not a ton of storage but plenty of room for a few of their things. I could have put all of their busy bag items in there no problem.
- If you took out the little folded up mattress, you could fit more.
- They aren’t officially approved by every airline. There’s a list here. But thankfully JetBlue, Copa, and KLM all allow them (which are the three airlines we are flying with them so far this year).
- The bed part of the scootcase is suitable for a two year old. But the riding/scooting is recommended for ages 3-7.
- It’s pricey for sure but stokke products hold up so well (we have the highchair, and it’s now a seat at our table) that you could easily resell them.
- I mentioned this before, but if you are local, you are more than welcome to borrow them – as long as we’re not on a trip (:
{it comes with some adorable stickers! My boys had a lot of fun decorating their jetkids!}
fitting under the seat.
The BedBox feature will be perfect for our overseas trip. This flight was over three hours, and we thought maybe we’d get a nap out of wesley. But no dice. It was really nice giving him a comfy spot though!
