A couple of y’all have been asking for this post. So here it is!
I first heard of drunk elephant from my sister who had been loving the samples. And even my mom said that she (mostly) approves. So when Sephora had their 15% off everything sale, I snagged the “acid trip” kit. It’s no longer available online (but you may be able to find them in stores). They do have a littles kit you could start out with.
You can learn more about their philosophy here and the ingredients they have blacklisted here. Drunk Elephant is free of parabens, sulfates, SLS, essential oils – they believe “if there’s any doubt, it’s out”. It’s all made in America too!
I loved it because it put me on a little regimen. Sure, I had one before but it was nothing that was working together for my skin. I would use this and that product but didn’t find a whole line that worked for me. I saw a change within a week. I also haven’t had a single break out since I started it.
For reference my skin is combination – I was super oily growing up and into my twenties. I literally had the shiniest forehead ever! But as I’ve aged (I’m 34) my skin has become more dry in areas. I also tend to have hormonal break outs. Even at my age! I have quite a few fine lines around my eyes already from sun damage and lots of smiles (:
Since getting the sample “acid trip”, I have replaced every one for a full size as I’ve ran out of it. Thankfully it didn’t all run out at the same time! I’ve also added a few others that weren’t in the sample kit, and there hasn’t been one disappointment. The products are expensive but I have never found anything more effective for my skin. I’ve had people say “you’re skin is glowing” “have you had injections” “what are you using?”….
So here’s what my routine is with my D.E. products:
Cleanse: Juju in the morning and the pekee bar at night. This is the trial set which is a great way to try it out to see how it works for you. These aren’t “soaps” and they have the perfect PH balance for your skin. I use the juju with just water and my hands. I use the pekee bar with my clarisonic (with a gentle brush). I lather up my face, and then I use the clarisonic.
Morning: After cleansing with the juju bar, I do two pumps of the C-Firma. If I feel like I need some more moisture I’ll use a drop or two of the Marula oil. Most days I do not wear make up but I always put on my unseen sunscreen by supergoop and go.
Nighttime: After cleansing with the pekee bar, I do two pumps of the T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic night time serum . I use a little bit of protini moisturizer – which is a collagen protein pack smoothie for your skin. I also use the Multivitamin eye cream. I think it’s helped me with my fine lines!
Once a week – I do mine every Sunday: The Babyfacial! You put it on for 20 minutes, and then use the marula oil afterwards. It’s true – your face really glows after this!
So what do you get if you’re just starting out and you aren’t ready to make the investment of all of this? I get that 200%.
I’d say these are the must have products:
You can try the littles kit. That will give you a taste of everything then you can go from there.
Or you could try the night bright duo with the rise and glow (both are under $30) Then try the trial size of the pekee and juju for cleansing. That would be a great start!
I also think the babyfacial is a game changer so the littles kit may be worth the splurge!
