The Toy Story movies are some of my favorite ones from Disney. I love that I was a kid when they came out, but that my kids still really enjoy watching them too. I had resigned myself to trying to see Toy Story Land to sometime in September, when our block-out dates from our weekday select passes lifted. But then Disney invited us, and I can’t tell you how excited we all were. Who was the most excited? It was probably a tie between myself and Tuck who loves so many of the characters. I asked the boys who they wanted to see the most and what they wanted to do after showing a few vidoes of toy story land. Tuck wanted to see the soldiers and Wes wanted to ride slinky dog.
- I know these aren’t of Toy Story Land! But now is a great time to take advantage of other rides/shows at Hollywood Studios. We walked to the back of the park and walked onto Star Wars (they have never even seen the movies but are obsessed), were the first in line to meet Chip & Dale, watched muppet vision 3D, and if my kids hadn’t been in such a hurry to see Toy Story Land, we could have done so much more with a minimal to no wait. We had planned on doing more after but a bad thunderstorm rolled through, and we decided to head home for naps.
- Back to Toy Story Land… the theming was so well done. The Imagineers thought of everything. It’s just like you magically were shrunk down to one of Andy’s toys yourself.
- Soldiers! I was worried we may not catch the soldiers at the right time. But they are almost always walking around interacting with different routines. One asked Tuck if he was ready to enlist and that made his day.
- First, yes, wes always puts his 3D glasses on upside down like this. hahaha. you do you sweet boy. I took them on this ride on one of my first trips going solo to hollywood studios, and I remember it was a highlight of their time that day. Even waiting for this line or going through fast passes is fun because it has adorable theming throughout.
- Slinky Dog dash was the highlight of mine and tucks day! I mentioned how this is what Wes wanted to do, but when he got to the front of the line he backed out and stayed with dad. I was really shocked as he’s usually such a little daredevil. Now he says he is ready to try it (: hahaha.
- I thought Alien Swirling Saucers would be so similar to tea cups but it’s much more fun (: though I will always love the nostalgia that comes with riding Tea Cups!
- The restrooms are even cute in Toy Story Land. I didn’t spot a companion bathroom, but there may still be one I didn’t see.
- Woody’s Lunch Box was the perfect spot to have lunch after a morning at Hollywood Studios. We enjoyed our turkey sandwiches, potato barrels, grilled cheeses, and mystic portal punch. Preschoolers will love the potato barrels, grilled cheese, mandarin oranges, and babybell cheeses.
- If you are outnumbered/solo at Disney World, Toy Story Land and Hollywood studios is a great park to visit. Inside Toy Story Land, as long as your child makes the height requirements (31 inches for Alien Swirling Saucers, Slinky Dog is a 38 inch requirement), you can do it as the solo parent pretty easily. My 5 year old would have to be in his own row at Slinky Dog, but I could ride with my three year old next to me. Toy Story Mania and Alien Swirling Saucers you can ride three to a cart. Hollywood Studios has a lot more for toddlers/preschoolers – with Disney Jr Live, Star Wars (height requirement is 40 inches), Frozen on Ice, Beauty and the Beast live, and lots of characters to meet.
I’ve heard Toy Story Land is so much fun at night… can’t wait to go back and do that one night! I also posted a video to youtube I took from the morning. Definitely an amateur but it’s fun to get some video clips (: Have you been? Did you love it as much as us?
{the boys shoes are London Fog and are perfect for disney. They fit like tennis shoes but are perfect for the heat with the holes (a little natural AC), and work if it’s raining too. Native’s work on one of my boys, but the other find them really uncomfortable. Both boys love the London fog one. My gf bought them for us at Marshalls, but they are also online on amazon. // their outfits I bought from Eliza James Kids // I wore these j.crew tanks which have been part of what I’ve worn the last three times to disney world}
