While I didn’t get a ton of photos of our stay at The Villas of Grand Cypress,  I still had a few of you ask for a review.  So here it is!  Just for disclosure – this is not sponsored in any way.  We booked on Hotels.com (I always seem to find good rates over there).  I picked the villas because we’ve done disney a lot this summer, and wanted to surprise JB with a round of golf there since he’s been a trooper all summer (:

Things I loved:

  •  No parking fee!  This is so rare these days in Orlando, with even Walt Disney World resort hotels having a parking fee now.
  • I really don’t know much about Golf even though JB lives and breaths it.  BUT even I could say with confidence their courses were gorgeous.  Especially this time of year, I hear a lot about courses being in rough conditions from my husband.  He loved the course, and couldn’t believe the shape of the greens.
  • They have one, two, and three bedroom villas.  We had a one bedroom with a pull out couch.  Plenty of room for our 4 person fam.  Even our one bedroom came with a fridge which is so nice to have with kids.
  • The bath and the shower!  The shower and bath are both spa level.  Loved that – and so did my boys.
  • The amenities are perfect for school age kids.  You can rent bikes and explore the beautiful grounds.  They have a bike for everyone – even baby seats.  They are free of charge.
  • You can also check out fishing poles, and fish their ponds there.  I heard even beginner fishermen (or women) can catch a fish in their ponds.
  • The pool is quiet.  This is a huge plus for me.  They still have daily events for kids at certain times.  But when we were there there was no fighting for a pool chair at all.  You can also order food or drinks right there as well.
  • If you go, get the steak breakfast burrito for breakfast at the Club and thank me later (;
  • The service was excellent.  I felt like the staff there is very well trained.
  • It’s definitely a peaceful place a part from Disney World, but super close distance wise.  Probably took us 15 minutes to get there.  They also have a free shuttle if you aren’t bringing a car or would like to use it.  We would use Disney busses or transportation more often but our passes gives us free parking and with our kids we like a quick getaway plan (and also – car naps are highly probable after a day at Disney).
  • You can use all of the amenities at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress (we’ve stayed there before) – they have a huge grotto style pool, chip and putt course, lake activities, and a kids club for ages 3 and up.

This isn’t for you, if you want a Mickey infused experience.  I actually didn’t see one Disney aspect while we were there.  Which is something to think about if that’s important to you or your children.  But it was perfect for us this time since we got our fill at Toy Story Land!
