The Be the best gift giver guide: Vol 1

I called for gift help questions on IG a while ago, and just got to responding to them. So I hope they are still applicable! The premise for this series is you tell me a bit about the person, age, and budget, and I’ll come up with what I think would be a good gift for them. I can definitely make this a series if this is something y’all enjoy.

Here we go!

Twins age 8 (boy and girl) is spunky and fun. Boy is sweet and gentle. Will be in my wedding: If this is a gift for the wedding, my sister put together super sweet little gift bags for all of the flower girls and ring bearers. Activities for them to do while they have their downtime. Since her wedding was at the beach, these were towels (you could do monogram beach towels, or some cute target ones), beach toys, sidewalk chalk, and new bathing suits. I’d also probably see if I could have this waiting for them in their room upon check in. instead of having to wait to give it to them at a rehearsal dinner, they can dive right into the fun. If your wedding is not at the beach, then you would just do a different theme. But I think activities for this age is the way to go.   I also have to say I LOVE when people have kids tables, or do something sweet for the kids at the wedding.  Like having crayons and paper, bubbles, and activities at their place setting. It’s a fun way to make them feel included.

Husband, 35, loves golf, business, we have twins 16months and are tired: Bless. I have a ton of golf gifts in previous guides that I’ll link here and here. But if you’re going for a big ticket item – maybe a range finder, a golf watch, a stitch golf bag,. I would talk to the pro where he golfs and ask them to do some reconnaissance on what your husband is eyeing. Honestly just letting him go golfing guilt free while you do something with the kids is a great gift on its own!  Particularly because you have 16 month old twins!  You could do a coupon book (:

Close female friend, creative, into skin care but buys most things she wants. Age 24. $50:  This cute little travel bag would be fun or this clear cosmetic bag (I love clear cosmetic bags!) and fill it with some eye gels, or a face mask.  If you think she already has something like this… maybe some patches from stoney clover to jazz up her current one.  Yes, I just said jazz up.  I’m old (:

Fashionista, sun lover, buys what she wants, 62, mom: A personalized straw bag (could personalize with her monogram, last name, or a saying the two of you have), a UPF hat, a cabana life cover up, roller rabbit coverup, supergoop kit.  This adorable little cosmetic case!

65 year old mother in law, likes simple and organic ingredients: If local, a gift certificate to Pure Elizabeth Skincare. or get her a gift certificate to a reflexologist (I love the local ones here!  $30 for 45 minutes – can’t beat it!).  If not, maybe some spices with simple ingredients. These are my favorite! If she likes baths maybe a little organic self care kit with bath salts, sheet masks, a soy candle. Etc. Also could give her a little car diffuser with essential oils. A sleepy kit with lavender sachets, a lavender spray for her pillow, a silk sleep mask, etc.

37 year old man, golf obsessed, UGA football, mountain biking $200 or less: Smathers and branson item for Georgia- a hat – putter cover – belt, tickets to a golf event in your area – bonus points for getting VIP tickets.  Maybe even a pair of tickets so he can bring his friend.  Or you if you are into golf. lol.   I can’t really speak to mountain biking but off the top of my head a camelback?

30, outdoorsy, but likes nice things and super studious type a, $50-100: Something from LL bean. Like a nice backpack with initials, a new jacket. Or a Patagonia sweater or rain jacket.

26, under $500, finishing medical school: A nice set of luggage if he doesn’t have any. A leather dopp kitt with initials embossed.

newly 8 year old boy, sporty, creative, innovative, enjoys building (likes legos and blocks) and artistic: Kiwi crates! K’Nex sets, and magnetic blocks if he doesn’t have any – I love the knock offs of these.

mom, feminine, stylish, and anthropologie lover. 66 years old and slim: Aerin from Williams Sonoma sounds right up her alley. Might not be on her radar, like anthropologie is.  Other ideas – Lisi Lerch earrings, a cute monogrammed garment bag, a roller rabbit coverup.

sweet, girly, traditional, age 23, preschool teacher: She may like one of these handy bags to tote to/fro the classroom. Starbucks gift cards. A yeti with a monogram on it. Hunter boots or a cute raincoat for rainy days going in and out of the classroom.

independent, classy, sophisticated, age 25, single, new homeowner: Maybe a personalized doormat or just a cute one!  an adorable door knocker.  a lemon tree or other plant in a pretty pot.

something for just engaged:   these adorable little dessert plates from shannon kirsten. An ornament from where they were engaged ( we were engaged at the dallas arboretum and I thought it was such a sweet engagement gift when someone sent us a Christmas ornament from there), or an ornament with their engagement date by Tricia Lowenfield, his and her luggage tags. A special bottle of champagne.   If they are on a trip when they get engaged, arrange to have champagne or chocolate covered strawberries sent up to their room. We have done this for engagements and also for honeymoons… or bachelorettes I couldn’t attend.
