the best part of waking up… |
i sincerely can’t. (glasses are from amazon ) |
I wrote a bit about this on instagram but wanted to write here as well. For posterity, I guess. And if future-Wesley you ever doubt how much your brother loved you, right from the start – here’s some proof.
I’ve been calling tuck “the little daddy” and here’s why … The way he cares about his brother is one the sweetest things I’ve seen. His concern over Wesley when he’s crying is too adorable for words. I love watching Tucks compassionate side come out. “Mama, bebe is cyyyying!!!” “mama, why is bebe cying!!” … And so even if it’s just a whine, Tuck goes to hunt down a trusty pacifier or a toy. He pops the binky in and grabs his hand. If he’s in something that rocks, tuck tries to rock him. I like to sit back and watch it play out before I intervene. More often than not “bebe not cyyyying more!” and Tuck is one proud little guy. Whenever Wesley is in his swing or mamaroo, I can find Tuck close by giving him a kiss as he plays or dropping a car off for wes to play (;. If Wesley is napping Tuck is always “mama, where baby!” – he has to know wesley’s whereabouts at all times. He also loves to “shhhh” people when they are around Wes, with one finger on his top lip, and a quiet but serious “shhhh”. Of course usually the one that needs shushing around the baby is him, but we are still learning about that around here. He wants to “hold baby peas” and then have me turn him around for a “hug baby peas”. The smile on his face once he finally gets to hug or hold is the best. He is just so genuinely happy he gets to hold or hug him. When Wesley is wide awake we play with him on his mat and Tuck loves showing him all of the different animals on it and telling him what sound they make. I generally have Wesley in the little boppy lounger when I’m doing my make up which is where Tuck has taken to teaching him through his baby art cards. “bebe dis zebra!” and holding the flash card up like he is a mr. tucker, teacher extraordinaire. He is OBSESSED with Wesley’s head. always kissing it, and rubbing it. He is very into getting me diapers when “bebe stinky poopoo mama” and lays one single wipe on top of the mess. ha. It’s not a huge surprise he’s now the little daddy, since he has such a good example with JB. But it’s something I’m treasuring and enjoying watching. All of this is really the best thing I’ve ever seen unfold; their little brotherhood.
