The
week before Tucks six month birthday we started introducing solids.
Honestly, this whole nursing thing is sucking ever ounce of fat off of me. And I’d like to keep some! So my mom was pretty insistent we start introducing solids. Of course we didn’t try to feed him while we were on the plane as that would be too messy at
this stage, but we did once we were there. And in perfect timing,
right before we left OXO Tots shipped us some amazing tools for feeding
babes on the go. Some of them aren’t on the market just yet, but I wanted to give you a little sneak. I love the OXO brand. I find everything so functional and the design is just darned good. So naturally, i’m liking their baby stuff. a lot.
Here are some tips for feeding while you’re traveling:
1. Keep it as consistent as you can. With a time change, it gets tricky. But once you’re semi-adjusted try to keep it around the same time every day.
2. Invest in an easy to wipe down bib. This one from OXO is my new fave. And it even rolls up for even traveling. Lots of people say – get disposable bibs! but honestly – I need less disposable things, and way more sustainable things. So this bib wins! And we loved the travel spoon that comes with its own case so it stays clean.
3. At first I thought it would be tough to bring along homemade baby food while traveling. Why not just get the little organic packs? But again, I’m really trying to waste less. I’ve felt convicted lately by the amount of stuff I throw away (more on this one day). Every wrapper is kinda slapping me in the face. And I also want to give Tuck the most nutritious food i can. And these baby blocks are just perfect for that. Plus they are entirely spill proof, bpa free, and come with a little freezer tray to keep it all in place. I already tried making some with fresh Georgia peaches my papaw brought down this week. And let’s just say, I’ll even eat that puree. It’s yummy.
4. If you’re formula feeding these two items look just perfect for traveling and feeding – the dispenser, and the on the go drying rack. While traveling I actually hand expressed using this pump, and the on the go drying rack really came in handy for keeping the two bottles we brought with us clean.
5. wipes! now this one might be my favorite thing from the whole OXO Tots line. I love Honest wipes, but they can be really hard to get just one out of the package. Especially the travel sized ones, so I no longer buy the travel ones. I just get a bunch out and put it in the OXO Tots on the go wipe dispenser. And I don’t waste a bunch of them trying to get just a couple out. One by One, they come out as I need them. Plus they have a neat little strap, and I can attach it anywhere. And whether you’re feeding or you’re just taking a walk, a wipe never need be far from you. Or else.
