Johns Room + things I still need to do…

Updates to Johns Room

Johns room looks night and day different than this time last year.  We took out built ins, had it repainted, new drapes put in, a new bed, and more.  I wanted him to have something classic that can grow with him as he gets older.  I love his room, though there’s still some work to be done.  I find I run out of steam on home projects a lot of the time.  I think this is where having a designer would really help me.  But I like mixing things up when the mood strikes!  I always make Johns bed first in the morning.  I love throwing open the curtains, and letting the light peek in.  It feels like a little tree house room!

Where everything is from so far:

Paint shade:  Trim is Labrador Blue from Benjamin Moore and walls and ceiling are White Dove by Benjamin Moore.  I have that in a few rooms in our house – living room, play room, and my office

Lamps – I found these at goodwill, and replaced their shade with one from target.  I love the lamps!  I did not know where they would go, and for a long time they were in storage.  But I knew they’d find their home.  And I love how stately they look here.  There’s a lot of playful elements in his room, so this is a nice juxtaposition to them.

bedside tables – I have had some feedback that they are too small for this room.  But they were JBs growing up, and his parents took them back from germany in the 70s just after they met working for the red cross and army.  So they are too special for me to replace them.  Plus, I love them and don’t mind them being a bit too small.

Bed – I bought this one from The Inside over the summer.  We love the slipcover aspect and that it covers the floor!

Curtains – Ginger from Pepper Home with a red ric rac trim.  I wasn’t sure how it would all mix, but I love it.

Pillows – also pepper home and in the same fabric as the curtains “Ginger”

Mirror – this federal style mirror I picked up at a second hand store, and painted it years ago.  I love how it turned out in this corner.  I linked a similar one.

Federal eagle wall plaque – I also picked up at a second hand store.  It’s not exactly the scale i’m going for here, so I’m working on finding some art, and moving it around.  But I do love it!

Curtain rod – this one is from target.  I like it way better than the ballard ones we have.

Bedding – It’s from Boll and Branch.  I love the softness of their signature hemmed set.

Johns chair – The Inside sent this one.  I love the size of it.

vintage tennis racquets – I picked these up from the thrift store.

Bamboo bookshelf – found this on FB Marketplace.  I have more details of his reading nook here.

Things I’m still working on:

I still need to get some more artwork and find a rug that works in the space!  But he loves it, and that is all that matters (:

BASEBALL ART

I had these in his room before, and love them in this little corner.
