If you’ve been around here for a while, you’ve no doubt seen me share about Bauble Stockings. I’ve highlighted them on a previous gift guide for men and I’ve also touched on how we’ve used them in our home. But if you’re unfamiliar with this brand, you’re in for a real treat! According to Bauble Stocking’s owner, Kate Stewart, these hand-stitched needlepoint miniature stockings are “what the good gifts come in”. Giving and receiving bauble stockings became a sweet holiday tradition in our home in 2019 and it continues to be one our family looks forward to each year. Today I’m excited to share more about this tradition, feature some gift ideas that you can place inside a bauble stocking, and highlight my current favorite designs for the holidays.
WHAT ARE BAUBLE STOCKINGS?
If you’ve never heard of bauble stockings, you’re probably wondering what they are and what makes them so special. These pieces are heirloom quality needlepoint stockings that come in a variety of beautiful designs. Beyond their intricate hand-stitched patterns, the gift-giving tradition that goes along with these stockings is what really makes them unique.
Bauble stockings are designed to be the last gift given on Christmas morning, or however you may celebrate the holidays. It doesn’t have to be the largest, most expensive gift. Instead, it should be a very thoughtful gift, or something that you know will bring lots of joy to the recipient. It’s such a special way to show your child, spouse, family member, etc. that they are seen and loved.
ABOUT THE BRAND
I wanted to share a bit more about this brand before moving on because I think it’s a really special one. Bauble Stockings is a female-founded company, which I always love to see (Weezie, Rush House, and Dudley Stephens are a few other favorites.) When the owner, Kate, was a child, her mother would receive the last gift of Christmas as a thank you for all that she had done that year. The gift, or a clue about the gift, was found inside a small needlepoint stocking hanging on their tree. After Kate got married she wanted to keep this tradition alive with her own family.
Like many of the female-founded businesses that I adore, Bauble Stockings gives back to others. All of the stockings are hand-stitched and made for fair trade in Jacmel, Haiti. Their manufacturing partner is BCorp certified, and guest artists also choose a charity to give back 10% of their sales. Since launching in 2018, they have donated over $95.000 to various organizations
Gift Ideas for Bauble Stockings
As I previously mentioned, the gift inside of a bauble stocking doesn’t have to be expensive or extravagant. Instead, the goal is to think of a gift that provides the recipient with a sense of belonging and the feeling of being understood and seen. Something that lets the ones you love know how much you care for them. Here are a few of my favorite bauble stocking gift ideas!

Fun Ways to Use Bauble Stockings
There are so many fun ways to fulfill this holiday tradition. You could write clues or draw a map and place it inside of your child’s bauble stocking as a fun way for them to search for their gifts. If you have bauble stockings for you and your spouse, you could have your children get involved in picking out the perfect “last gift of Christmas” for mom and dad. The owner, Kate, mentioned that her husband talks with their children about all of the special things Kate has done for their family that year while they’re picking out the gift, which I think is such a wonderful idea! A fun and easy way for grandparents to use bauble stockings? They can “fancy up” a check or cash by placing it inside of these needlepoint treasures.
You can also use bauble stockings for birthdays in addition to the holidays. There isn’t a right or wrong set of rules and it’s such a fun tradition for your family to make their own!
My Favorite Bauble Stockings
Each year they release new bauble stocking designs and each year I find myself wanting to buy more! They are always so beautiful and special. These are five of my current favorite designs.
Golfing Nutcracker
My boys have this golf-themed bauble stocking and we’ve had so much fun with it! For ideas on what to include inside, check out these favorite gifts for golfers.
Blue & Green Classics
I don’t think anybody will be surprised to learn that these classic blue and green designs are a favorite of mine! They would look so beautiful hanging on a blue, gold, or silver-themed Christmas tree.
Celebration Castle
This sweet bauble stocking was created with Mary Helen Law of the Mini Mouse Counselors and Sarah Watson. It would be such a special way to gift a Disney vacation to kids on Christmas morning!

Home for the Holidays
This bauble stocking was created with Paula Angermeier of Town and Country House and it is such a classic. It reminds me of our colonial home, minus the snow (although, I’m always dreaming of a white Christmas!)
Match Point Nutcracker
In addition to being big golf fans, we’re also a big tennis family. This bauble stocking is perfect if you’re looking for a special way to give tennis gifts to a friend or family member.
Bauble Stockings for the Holidays
Bauble stockings have quickly become one of our favorite holiday traditions. They are easy, thoughtful, and so much fun! I always love slowing down and enjoying traditions during the holidays, whether it’s something as simple as matching Christmas pajamas or as thoughtful as daily acts of kindness in the month of December. I truly believe these are the types of memories our children will cherish forever!
