When I first started this hobby now turned career, there was no such thing as an influencer. Â Or that was certainly not a profession like it is today. Â I’ve been hesitant to adopt that as my title, but I guess it’s time to call a spade a spade. Â Today I wanted to share my “influencer office space”… which is a work in progress! Â But it’s getting somewhere, and I do like where it’s headed.
I loved our tiny guest room, but as my career in this space has grown, it quickly became a spot to store wayyyy too many work items, and it would get disorganized quickly. Â Then when we would have guests I’d be scrambling to find a spot for them. Â Plus most of our guests have families now, and this spot was a little too cramped for them. Â Now that we have a rental, we try to book that out if we know of any dates or family/friends visiting. Â That way, everyone is comfortable and has plenty of room. Â But we still get to spend plenty of quality time together. Â When we bought the rental, we were itching to get it rent-able. Â So the bed and furniture in the guest room, went over to one of the rooms at the blue house. Â Leaving an empty canvas here.
I actually felt a bit guilty for having a “room of my own”… which I realize is very silly, especially when JB / family/ friends were telling me of course you need an official office! Â So I slowly started assessing what my pain points are with what I do, and what this room needed. Â The first thing to go in here were these industrial looking racks. Â Not crazy about the look, but the price point and the functionality is great.
When we do shoot at my home, I hang up the outfits with any accessories in a bag attached, and the shoes that coordinate right underneath. Â Oh and I make sure I steam it all! Â This set up has helped me tremendously on a shoot day when there’s a lot to remember. Â This is not my closet. Â My closet is upstairs in our bedroom and it’s quite small. Â This is a space where I organize what and how I’m shooting.
For a while it stayed just like this – pretty bare with the rack on one side, and my purses on a thrift store find.  Then I added in a floor length mirror.  I may be the last influencer to resist a floor length mirror, but it was time.  I love the Atoll mirror from Ballard, and even have it in our powder room. But just the smaller size of course.  To me, it gives the perfect amount of whimsey to any space.
Then I worked with Locust Lane to put the prettiest rug in here. Â This is the geometric Dhurrie rug, Â which is sold out. Â But I’d keep an eye out as their rug selection is always updating. Â I LOVE this rug! Â It makes me so happy (: Â Fantastic quality, the prettiest blues and greens. Â You can see their stock of rugs here.
Lastly, I bought a desk from Ballard. Â It’s the Margaret Desk in a grayish blue, but I think it reads more pale blue. Â It’s a great size. Â I put my make up in one side, and my stationery in the other side. Â These $12 clear plastic organizers really came in handy. Â This is a multi-use spot – I can do my make up here, write my thank you notes, and type away on this blog post.
My chair is something I picked up at an estate sale and it’s absolutely darling. Â It’s a bit too tall for the desk, so I have a Teeny chair on order from Coley Home.
Like I said it’s a work in progress… The other side of the room isn’t pictured because it’s definitely not ready. Â On a whim I bought this bookshelf for $20 at a thrift store. Â It gets the job done, but I am actively looking for a better solution. Â Maybe a spot with some drawers, so I can stash some things in there and not quite see it.
In the closet I keep my shoes, in these little shoe lockers, along with wrapping paper (mostly Gwrap), Â and all of my ribbons and tags which I have in this little organizer.
I hope to do part two soon, when I’ve truly finished the space. Â Off to go find some solutions for my hats/purses/accessories (:
