Soccer season is upon us and I’ve accepted the fact that most of my weekends for the near future will be spent at the fields. As busy as this season is, I do my best to soak it up and enjoy it. I know it won’t last forever. Someday I will miss these full days spent as a family jumping from activity to activity. However, when we’re constantly on-the-go, it can be difficult to prevent our car from becoming messy. And I have a feeling I’m not alone! Similar to my room mom tips and tricks, today I’m going to share another favorite mom hack – how to keep your car organized during a sports season.
These tried-and-true car storage products and organization tips are sure to be helpful whether you’re a soccer mom, volleyball mom, or just a busy mom on-the-go!
Car organization on walmart
Before jumping into the specifics of this mom hack, I wanted to assure you of two things. First, the tips are going to be easy to implement. And second, obtaining the products is effortless as well. This is all thanks to the easy-of-use of the Walmart App. All of the practical items I will be highlighting today can be purchased on Walmart. Their App makes it incredibly easy to place an order and swing by and grab your items via pickup or have them delivered to your doorstep. Time is such a precious commodity during this busy season of life. I love how quick and easy Walmart makes it to acquire these must-have items!

Mom Hack: Car Organization Products
As I previously mentioned, preventing your vehicle from becoming a mess during a sports season can be challenging. However, my first mom hack for an orderly car is to invest in some organizational products. They don’t need to be fancy or expensive, just products that give all items in your vehicle a place to call “home”. There are two specific products that I’ve recently been using and loving – a trunk organizer and a portable car organizer.
TRUNK STORAGE ORGANIZER
First up is this trunk storage organizer. I was immediately impressed by how much “stuff” this product can hold. There are multiple compartments in a variety of sizes, making it easy to store items both large and small. It’s foldable, easy to install, and made from durable materials that have held up well for us thus far. I would not only categorize owning this organizer as a mom hack for sports moms, but really for any mom on-the-go. It is definitely a “must” for any road trip!
PORTABLE CAR ORGANIZER
The second must-have organizational product is this portable car organizer. This one is great because not only can you place it on top of any seat in your car, but it also has a shoulder strap, so you can easily carry it around. Additionally, it can be attached to a stroller. Talk about a mom hack! I live for multi-functional products like this. It has multiple pocket sizes, attaches to a seatbelt to avoid movement while driving, and is very affordable.
Mom Hack: Items to Store in Your Car
Okay, now that I’ve shared two of my favorite car organizer products, let’s discuss what I store inside of them. I’ve found that being overly prepared for game days and tournament weekends is always the best decision. Therefore, I like to have a variety of items readily available in our vehicle. Not only for the boys, but also for myself, grandparents, or friends who are attending the games. Here are some of the essentials I always keep on hand.
General Items
- Travel-size first aid kit and extra band-aids for kids
- Extra folding chairs. This is a no-brainer, as you never know when a grandparent, friend, or another family member might have forgotten chairs for game day. These grey folding chairs are durable, easy to store, and affordable.
- Blank birthday cards and gift bags. This one might seem a bit strange, but I feel like it’s a mom hack that really makes sense. I can’t be the only one who has shown up to a birthday party only to discover that I forgot to bring a card! This also comes in handy if someone on your kids’ sports team has a birthday and you didn’t realize it until game day. You can quickly throw some cash in a card to make the kid’s day extra sweet!
- Personal essentials for the family: Hand sanitizer, sunscreen, Kleenex, bug spray, an umbrella, lip balm, gum and mints
- Personal Items for Mom: A neutral baseball cap, deodorant, hair ties, and claw clips
kids Items
- A few kids’ books you know your children will enjoy. These come in handy if stuck in traffic or while waiting in between games/activities. A few we love include the Boxcar Children series, Weird, but True books, and the I Survived series.
- Another easy mom hack is to store a few card games in your car. We always have UNO on hand and this card game is another fun one.
- Sports Equipment: As all soccer moms know, if there’s ever down time between games, giving the kids a ball can keep them entertained for extended periods of time! We also like to keep tennis rackets for adults and kids in the trunk organizer in case we find ourselves with free time near a court.
- Art/Writing Supplies: A notebook, pens, sharpened pencils, and markers
Mom Hack: Be Prepared for Game Day
Beyond having your car prepared, I wanted to share a few additional tips for a smooth game day.
- Bring lots of snacks and drinks. It’s always best to be over-prepared in this category as nobody likes a hungry, whiny kid (or mom!)
- Dress in layers. On soccer days it’s oftentimes chilly in the mornings and hot in the afternoon. Dressing in layers helps me stay comfortable all day long.
- On a similar note, be sure to check the weather on game day morning and dress accordingly.
- Pack the car the night before and set out clothes, cleats, shin pads, etc. for a smooth morning
- Eat a hearty and healthy breakfast (or whichever meal falls before the game) to give the kids lots of energy.
- Enjoy it! As busy and chaotic as this season can be, we will miss it someday. So sit back and soak up the sweet memories.
