Kristin Ess Haircare: what I tried and loved and what I didn’t.

{affiliate links are used in this post}kristen ess reviewIt’s no secret that I love some Kristin Ess haircare from target.  I’ve tried a lot of the line so far, so I wanted to review it for y’all.  I can rarely justify salon prices for shampoo and conditioner, so this is a good middle ground for me.  It’s sulfate free, which is a plus but I wouldn’t say it’s 100% clean.  Prices are anywhere from $10-15.  Before this I really didn’t use products on a regular basis with my hair.  Maybe hairspray a couple time a year, and dry shampoo about the same.  But once I slowly started using these products, I realized they worked for me, and tried more.

Just for reference:  I have thin hair but a lot of it, so because of that some products didn’t really work for me.  I also live in southern florida so it’s humid most of the year.  I have color treated hair –  highlights every couple of months.  I “do” my hair, meaning blow dry and curl, around two to three times a week.  The rest of the week it’s air dried and in a pony tail.  I wash my hair everyday unless I want to scare people.  so usually it’s washed.

The purple Shampoo and Conditioner:  I’ve raved about this on IG.  I love the cool tone it gives my blonde, and also the softness it gives my hair.  I use this twice a week.  Generally on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s.  Read the directions on this for the best results.  You have to leave it on for a few minutes before washing.  It gives a great lather and I feel like my scalp is really clean after this.

Anytime Anywhere recovery balm:  I do this about once a week for night time.  I apply wherever it’s feeling a little fried.  I’ve not done it during the day but if you have a day where you’re just cleaning around the house and not leaving, I’d definitely throw it in a braid with this stuff applied.  My hair feels so much better after.   A little more shine applied.

Kristin Ess leave in conditioner spray:  Due to my hair being fine, I need a little detangling conditioning spray.  This isn’t too heavy and leaves my hair soft and conditioned.

Between the purple S&C, I use Kristin Ess Gentle shampoo,  or the coconut love beauty and planet shampoo & conditioner.  This smells amazing, and that smell really lasts all day.

Kristin Ess weightless shine working serum:  If I am going to blow dry my hair I use just a couple drops of this on wet hair.  Then a couple drops after it’s dry.  Helps with taming frizz, and gives it just the right amount of shine.

Kristin Ess dry shampoo:  I wouldn’t say this is the best dry shampoo ever, but for the price it’s great.

The only thing that didn’t work for me that I’ve tried so far, is the sea salt air dry spray.  It left my hair pretty crunchy looking and it wasn’t a good look.  But it may very well have to do with the texture of my hair.

I would love to try:

Rose Gold tint (a little daring for me, but how fun!)

Beach wave spray (might be good for the summer)
