By now you probably know my love for Lorna Murray hats runs deep. For me, it was love at first sight, when I saw Kathy Hilton wearing one back in 2020. Over the years, my collection of these packable handmade works of art has slowly grown, and they have become a staple in my wardrobe. I frequently receive questions asking how to style Lorna hats. With resort wear season being in full swing, I thought it would be a great time to highlight this brand. Lorna Murray is an ethical and sustainable Australian brand. Their style is described as “where effortless glamour meets coastal bohemian”. Why I Love Lorna Murray
To me, a Lorna Murray hat is so much more than your standard sun hat. In my opinion, they are more like a work of art! My sister gave me my first Lorna Murray for my birthday in 2020. I turned around and wore it that same weekend on a trip at the Sarasota Ritz, and I instantly felt chic. My collection has grown since then, and I can’t get enough! How to Style a Lorna Murray Hat
Speaking of the endless ways to style these hats, I thought it might be helpful to share a few of my favorites. I truly believe the quality and versatility of these pieces makes them well worth their price. Not only do I wear them while traveling, but also throughout the entire summer and spring seasons. Here are my favorite ways to style Lorna Murray pieces.
- With athleisurewear. I’ve worn Lorna Murray hats with activewear styles, but I especially love their visors for casual looks. They are great for golf, tennis, pickleball, and croquet. They add such a fun punch to any outfit! I styled one of these with this adorable golf dress, which would be perfect if you’re looking for an outfit to wear to the Masters.
- With resort wear favorites while at the beach! I love the added sun protection a Lorna Murray hat provides while at the beach. And if I want to not be shaded for a second, I’ll just push the brim up. I tend to wear the Capri style on the beach, but their Canopy style is equally as incredible!
- In a sun dress while wandering around town. They’re perfect for days spent shopping and lunching with friends or for exploring a new city. I love wearing mine for added style and sun protection in the spring and summertime. For example, I felt like my neutral Lorna was the perfect piece to complete this Mi Golondrina black maxi dress outfit.
- With your swimsuit and coverup while out on a boat. The main Lorna Murray styles come with ties, so you can fasten them. This way you don’t have to worry that they might fly off while cruising the waters.

With all of the different styling options, I thought it would be fun to put together some Lorna Murray outfit ideas. I chose a few of my current favorite styles for spring and paired them some Lorna hats. There’s a 100% chance I will be recreating these looks for myself in the near future!
Pink Paradise
This Staud pink matching skirt set is to die for! I love the two-toned pink combination as well as the fun wavy details. This would look beautiful paired with a pink gingham Lorna Murray hat, timeless gold earrings, and woven wedge heels (I love this affordable pair.) Be sure to throw on a coordinating lip gloss before running out the door!
Monochromatic Mood
Chic, chic, chic…that’s what I think of when I see this Lorna Murray look! Monochromatic outfits are all the rage right now, so why not carry that trend over to a beach or poolside outfit? I love the belted waist on this one piece swimsuit, it’s so flattering! The black coverup dress is on sale, the sunglasses are a classic, and the raffia sandals are a pre-order that is sure to quickly sell out. Pair it all with a black Lorna hat for extra flair and sun protection!
Coastal & Classic
You didn’t think I’d put together outfit ideas and not include a classic blue and green look, did you? My sister Molly and I had the honor of partnering with Lorna Murray to design a hat that coordinates perfectly with our Sail to Sable collection. Not only does this neutral sun hat pair with these pieces, but it also looks great with so many other styles.
This matching shorts set is one of my favorites from our Sail to Sable collection. The scallop details on back are so sweet. For this look, I’d pair it with a neutral woven purse, classic shades, blue and gold statement earrings, and a favorite pair of gold sandals (which happen to be half off!)

2. What are your thoughts on gifting one?
While I personally love the vibe of a Lorna hat, I know they aren’t for everyone. However, for the right person, it makes such a fun gift! They also make girls’ hats, and little girls look SO cute in them! I think they’d especially make a great gift for a girl who’s often seaside.
3. Are they worth the hype?
I think you know by now, my answer to this is 100% YES!

5. How do these fit?
I find that the these hats fit TTS based on the brand’s hat sizing guide. If you’re between sizes and you prefer a looser fit, you might size up. For a more snug fit, you could size down. They also have a customer care email you can reach out to for sizing questions.
